Abstract
This paper aims at describing modalities and functions of the fragment in José Ángel Valente’s Notas de un simulador. This work is defined by a strong metaliterary awareness since the poet shows the reader the bases of his own poetic through a pseudo-aphoristic writing. The fragment allows the philosophical analysis to exploit the lyric expression in order to reach a sudden and intuitive knowledge. Nevertheless this form of knowledge asks the poet to recognize and identify himself with the voices of the tradition he belongs to, in which his ego gets diluted and vanishes.
