Benito Pérez Galdós, forse più di quanto non sia dichiarato dalle biografie, vive l’intensa avventura ottocentesca ma, soprattutto, ne sperimenta e coglie ogni movimento culturale. Tristana, come tutti gli ultimi suoi romanzi di fin-de-siécle, ne è testimonianza, in una vivace rappresentazione consapevole che assomiglia a una dichiarazione di poetica.

Abstract
Benito Pérez Galdós, perhaps more than is indicated by the biographies, lives the intense nineteenth-century adventure but, above all, of it he experiences and he picks every cultural movement. Tristana, as all his latest novels of fin-de-siécle, is evidence of this, in a lively conscious representation that appears a declaration of intent.
